Leave New Zealand behind for a sunshine-filled break in Australia’s glitziest city, Sydney. A relatively short, four-hour flight away, Sydney is a fantastic city to enjoy any time of year.
Keep an eye out for any iconic landmarks as you fly into Sydney Airport. Before you’ve even touched down on the tarmac, you may be able to spot the Harbour Bridge, Opera House, and the famous Bondi Beach.
Sydney is expansive, with a never-ending coastline of beaches that you’ll likely want to visit. While it is renowned for its coastline, there’s so much more to the city. Enjoy time in the CBD, where the glitz and glamour never ends, or head out west, where the beauty of the Blue Mountains always impresses. Perhaps head out of the city altogether, and visit the fantastic surf towns that are located close by. You’ve got plenty of options to enjoy your stay, so go ahead and hire a car from us here at Ace Rental Cars when you touch down at Sydney Airport.
It’s no secret that Sydney’s beaches are some of the best in Australia.
You’ll find no black sand or overly rugged landscapes here, but plenty of golden beaches, with perfectly blue ocean waters. They’re great to swim in all year round, with the fair winter days still proving to be perfect for the beach. Stick to famous places like Bondi Beach or Manly, or dare to be different, and head to Chinamans Beach, Milk Beach, Chowder Bay, or even Lady Martin’s. These beaches are lesser-known but still just as beautiful so that you can enjoy your coastal adventure without the crowds.
While many visit Sydney purely to hit the sand and the sea, Sydney is so much more than just its coast. Visit some of the beautiful suburbs that call this city their home. The ever-glamorous Double Bay is the perfect place to do some celebrity spotting, while the quaintness of Paddington and Woollahra is a firm favourite amongst many. Surry Hills is a foodie’s dream, so if you want a bite to eat, head here. Remember to book in advance if you can though, as many restaurants in the city tend to book out ahead of time.
Of course, no visit to Sydney is complete without a trip to the Harbour. Circular Quay is a great place to watch the sunset; perhaps go for a bite to eat at the Opera House before watching the sun dip behind the iconic white sails.
New South Wales is a phenomenal state, with plenty of great destinations to visit and explore.
One of the more famous locations is the Blue Mountains. Leave the busyness of the city behind, and enjoy a few days in the bush. With many hikes to embark on, and the iconic Three Sisters rock formations ready to greet you, Katoomba and the surrounding villages are always an excellent visit.
There are also plenty of surf towns that line the coast. Perhaps stay a while in one of these to see what life is like in the more relaxed areas; Wollongong, Newcastle, and Port Stephens are all phenomenal, while the quieter towns of Mollymook and Yamba are simply sublime.
The great thing about a road trip around New South Wales is that you'll find a perfect spot no matter if you head east or west, north or south. Simply pack up your Ace rental car and hit the road.
