We were due to fly out of Christchurch the morning the city was hit by a 7.1 earthquake. Like many other victims I was knocked about but lucky to escape injury. TV and radio news bulletin revealed closures to many areas this included bus/train companies and domestic & international airport until further notice. The ACE rental car I hired was due back that morning. Only then did reality hit that once returned I would have no other means or way of transportation. EFTPOS Terminals were down so cash was limited but enough to scrape up another days rental. Arriving at ACE Rentals terminal I witnessed customers bewilder by the devastating events that just unfolded. I praise the staff for the way they dealt with customers in a professional, friendly and caring manner supporting all those in need and setting aside their own personal grievances. A personal acknowledgment to the female staff member who assisted me. Your caring nature and attitude was appreciated. Finally I was fortunate
