Explored Auckland and further? As well as having great city highlights, Auckland is the perfect home base for a wide range of days tours that you can organize and self-drive yourself or book through a reliable provider.
Let’s take a trip to Auckland Parnell.
Parnell is the oldest precinct in Auckland, but with that history and heritage comes a wealth of experiences and activities for you to do. It’s a fantastic part of the city, with many restaurants, cafes, and bars lining the street providing a great atmosphere and excellent nightlife. There is truly something for everyone, so whatever you are into, you’ll find it here.
While you might spend a few days exploring what Auckland Parnell offers, you might want to venture to other parts of the city and beyond during your stay. With a rental car from Ace Auckland Parnell, you’ll find it easy to head wherever and whenever you like.
There is so much to do while in Parnell, the options are nearly limitless.
If you are after arts and culture, this is the best suburb for it. Parnell offers some of the best art galleries and installations in all of Auckland. Perhaps take a morning stroll through the Domain Sculpture Walk, where artistically crafted statues will help you welcome the day. There’s Birdwoods Parnell and the Parnell Gallery, two well-known art galleries in the Auckland area. Enjoy a morning full of masterpieces before heading on to explore something new for the rest of your stay.
You’ll likely want to taste your way through the suburb, and with such a variety of restaurants, cafes, and eateries on offer, we recommend trying some of the local ones out. Break your fast with a coffee and breakfast from Red Rabbit or Rosie. Rosie is opposite the Parnell Rose Gardens, so maybe tie up your trip here with a visit to see some fresh blooms. For lunch and dinner, we recommend Cibo, an award-winning restaurant, or Non Solo Pizza, which offers authentic and delicious Southern Italian cuisine.
One of the best things about Parnell is that the shops are local. There’s no mall here or chain shops, but instead a collection of beautiful boutiques, so be prepared to shop till you drop. For a gorgeous piece of jade jewellery (an important Māori stone), head to Kiwa Art and grab a gift for someone special. There are also plenty of designer shops, like Esque Atelier, Rein, Natalie Marseille, and Jane Daniels, to just name a few.
Of course, you’ll likely want to head out of Parnell at some stage. Well, with various activities to do in Auckland, you will have a lot of fun whatever you decide to do! Maybe head to the Auckland Sky Tower to see the city from new heights. At 186 metres above sea level, it’s a great place for first-time visitors. Daredevils might want to try the SkyWalk or SkyJump, two AJ Hackett activities that will surely make your heart soar to new heights.
Mount Wellington is a fantastic place to enjoy nature and get out of the bustling city. It’s a 24-minute drive from Parnell, so a relatively easy distance to drive before hiking up high. At 134 metres high, Mount Wellington offers a great vantage point over the whole city.
Road trips are always a fun way to see the country, particularly when travelling to New Zealand. With scenic sights at every turn, you’ll be pulling over to take a picture every ten minutes. However, once you’ve hit the road, plenty of beautiful destinations are at your disposal.
Maybe head up north to enjoy the Bay of Islands. Paihia is the main tourist town here, and there are so many incredible activities to do while you’re in the area. Travel up to Cape Reinga, the northernmost point of New Zealand and see where the Tasman meets the Pacific, or visit Waitangi and witness history in the place where the founding document of New Zealand was signed in 1806 after British colonisation.
Whatever you decide to do while you’re in Parnell, make sure to relax, unwind, and enjoy all that this brilliant area of Auckland offers, before exploring more of the beautiful country. We’ll see you soon, at Ace Auckland Parnell.
