Christchurch, established in 1850, was settled by the Anglican church and is steeped in English architecture and tradition. It is regarded as the most English city outside of England, complete with it's Cathedral, old stone university, oak trees, it's punts and even it's own Avon river, it's perhaps not hard to see why.

Kaikoura literally translates to meal of crayfish, 900 years after the first inhabitants named this place, it's still not hard to see why. The sea is bountiful and healthy here, it's savage ocean keeps it safe from plunder and demise.
