City of Sails

Tourist Attractions in Auckland

New Zealand is not about cities and Auckland is no exception, many if it's best attractions are located on the city fringes not easily accessible by public transport, yet only a short drive by car. Mt Eden and One Tree Hill (Cornwall Park) are both ancient volcanic domes and were occupied by Maori tribes. They both provide excellent 360 ° views of the city, Manukau Harbour to the south, the Waitemata Harbour to the north and beyond to the islands of the Hauraki gulf.

The batteries that dotted around the Waitemata can be found on many of the gulf islands, particularly Motutapu and Rangitoto as well as along the mainland coast.
