6 Days Northland

3-5 days highlights include:

Day 1
Auckland- Coromandel
Cruise to Coromandel on Kawau cat and collect your car in Coromandel. Huge trees, rocky bays, sandy beaches, Hot water beach.

Day 2
Coromandel - Raglan / Waitomo
Wicked surf and awesome caves. Lost World adventure 'highly recommended'

Day 3
Waitomo to Castle Rock or Rotorua
Mean as mountain biking, rock climbing, and a big river.

Day 4
Rotorua - Whakatane - Rotorua
A real live volcano!

Day 5
Rotorua - Taupo
Whitewater raft, Waimangu, Waiotapu, kerosene creek, skydive! Bungy!

Day 6
Taupo -Wellington
Tongariro National Park. Gravity canyon (must do!!), gumboot throwing.

Alternative routes between Auckland and Wellington include travelling through the Taranaki region, overnight at New Plymouth and then follow the coast road to Waitomo and on to Auckland. Another option is travel via the art deco cities of Napier and Hastings in the Hawkes bay. Other highly recommended destinations include the East cape (allow 2-3 days) and Te Urewera National Park and lake Waikaremoana.If you are travelling from Wellington to Auckland, simply follow the suggested itineraries in reverse.
