Personal Baggage Insurance

Personal Baggage Insurance (PBI) is an optional insurance offered by Ace Rental Cars that is designed to protect your baggage and personal effects while away from home.  As an Ace Rental Cars customer you can participate in the PBI policy by selecting the Platinum Insurance option when renting an Ace Rental Cars vehicle. 

Cover

PBI provides the following cover:

• The cost to repair or replace an item of baggage or personal effects in the event of accidental loss or damage to that item.

Personal Baggage Insurance is subject to the terms, conditions and exclusions contained in the policy wording. A copy of the policy wording can be found here, and is also available from any Ace Rental Cars location.

How to obtain Personal Baggage Insurance

You must select the Platinum Insurance option on your Ace Rental Cars Rental Document and pay the additional per-day charge shown on the Rental Document.

Making a claim

A claim may be made by requesting a claim form from any Ace Rental Cars location. You must submit your claim to the underwriter within 30 days of the accident taking place or as soon as possible thereafter.

Duty of Disclosure for Personal Baggage Insurance

Before you enter into a PBI insurance contract you must understand that if there is anything you know which may affect our underwriter’s decision to give you cover you must tell us.

The Underwriter

Personal Accident and Personal Baggage cover are issued/insured by American Home Assurance Company (New Zealand Branch), trading in New Zealand as Chartis.  This is only a summary of the cover provided by the policy. The provisions of the master policy wording define the cover in precise terms.  The coverage and any claims made are subject to terms, conditions, limitations and exclusions outlined in the policy of insurance. In the event of any conflict between the descriptions of coverage in this document and the policy of insurance, the provisions contained in the policy of insurance will govern.
